DALLAS, TX: The Latino Center for Leadership Development (LCLD) is proud to announce Dr. Patty Garcia has joined the organization as Vice President of Programs and Operations. In this role, Dr. Garcia will lead the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.

“Dr. Garcia’s experience in equipping the nation’s Latino elected officials brings a wealth of expertise that will strengthen the programs and initiatives to build a pipeline of leaders and ideas for the Latino community,” said Jorge Baldor, Founder of the LCLD. “We are confident that Dr. Garcia’s leadership will propel us to the next level as an organization and further elevate our impact in the Latino community”

The Latino Center for Leadership Development serves a critical purpose in the advancement of the Latino community. I am honored to have an opportunity to contribute to the innovative efforts and build the next generation of leaders and scholars.

Previously, Dr.Garcia served as the Deputy Director of Constituency Services for Education with NALEO Educational Fund, where she managed and carried-out national, state, and local relations and efforts with elected and appointed officials, philanthropic partners, and stakeholders. She has a vast experience creating professional development opportunities for Latino/a elected and appointed officials across jurisdictional and partisan lines. Her expertise ranges around core governance skills, education policies from birth to postsecondary education and the workforce, civic engagement, as well as other key issues impacting the success and development of the Latino community. Prior to that, she was NALEO Educational Fund’s Data and Campaigns Manager, charged with implementing the organization’s data-driven civic engagement projects-primarily its GOTV voter education and participation efforts.

The Latino Center for Leadership Development was formed to create a pipeline of leaders and ideas through a year-long leadership academy for aspiring policy makers and thinkers, a policy institute that offers grants to researchers and a two-year fellowship for postdoctoral scholars, and a set of strategic initiatives for community members to help address current challenges faced by Latinos.
